The DVLA check code is an online version of your driving licence information, this has been introduced as a replacement to the paper counterpart that is no longer issued.
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency has developed a new way for drivers and rental companies to use, view and share driving license details online using a QR code, known as a DVLA check code.
The technology will allow you to share your driving record with a company such as hirefleet with ease so you can hire a van stress-free and with less paperwork.
If you’re wondering where to find DVLA check code or how to get your check DVLA code online, you can generate your code via the GOV website here, Get DVLA Code.
Once you navigate to the GOV website you should see “view or share your driving license”, from this page getting your DVLA check code is simple.
You will need your driving licence number, NI number and postcode to continue. You will also need to consent for your DVLA record to be shared with other governmental departments such as the HMRC and the DWP by simply ticking a box labelled “I agree”.
Simply continue and you will be presented with the option to generate DVLA code. Another question we often receive is “how long does a DVLA check code last?”, the DVLA check code will be valid for 21 days.
This service can also be used to review your driving record, this will allow you to see the vehicles you can drive, disqualifications and penalty points.
You will also be able to share your driving record with a van hire company such as hirefleet via sharing your DVLA driver check code with us directly.
To hire a van, you will need a full UK driving license, two additional forms of identification and your DVLA check code. Get share code DVLA.
Your UK driving license must be produced at the time of collection and all drivers need to have held a full drivers license for a minimum of 2 years.
If your driving licence was issued outside of the EU, you must present this together with an international licence. We cannot accept international licenses on their own.
We advise all non-EU driving licence holders to check your eligibility to drive in the UK as certain restrictions apply if you have been resident in the UK for more than 12 months.
In summary, the DVLA check code is your digital gateway to hassle-free van rental. Replacing the old paper counterpart, this code allows you to securely share your driving license details online with ease, streamlining the process for both drivers and rental companies like hirefleet.
